　　Alexa pulled the visor down and flipped open the mirror, studying

　　Alexa took her hairbrush out of her backpack and fixed her pony-tail as they drove past Alexa’s house high on the hill overlooking Cayuga

　　Lake. “It looks like the lawn could use a little work,” Alexa’s father noted

　　as he glanced at the house the three of them had shared up until two

　　months ago, when he took a modest　　17　　apartment in downtown Ithaca.

　　Alexa maintained her silence as she wondered what her father was think-ing. His demeanor　　18　　didn’t reveal anything, but Alexa wondered if he
