　　Louis-Jacques-Mand Daguerre (Louis Daguerre) was a French artist and physicist in the 18th and 19th century. He was originally a celebrated designer for the theatre, but best known for his invention of the Daguerreotype, which marked the birth of photography. The Daguerreotype was the first applicable photography technique, without which there would be no newer techniques later on.

　　Of course the Daguerreotype was not easily obtained. It was the result of lots of previous exploration and efforts of predecessors. Eight centuries before Louis Daguerre, there had been an instrument that worked like nonlens camera. Then there emerged lens and the technique of silver halide emulsion. The most crucial discovery came from Nicphore Nipce who created the technique of Judea asphalt emulsion in 1820 and successfully made the first photos.

　　When Louis Daguerre partnered with Nicphore Nipce in 1829, they continued to explore how photos could come out quickly and clearly. Even though Nicphore Nipce died suddenly in 1833, Louis Daguerre did not give up; he alone made plenty of experiments and subsequently invented the consequential Daguerreotype.

　　After the emergence of the Daguerreotype, scientists have still been working hard to improve photography. Because of it, our life has become more colorful and wonderful.

　　路易·雅克·曼德·达盖尔(路易·达盖尔)是十八世纪和十九世纪的法国艺术家和物理学家。他原为著名舞台背景设计家，后发明达盖尔摄影法，标志着摄影的诞生。达盖尔摄影法是第一种可利用的摄影术，没有它就没有之后新摄影术的发展。

　　当然达盖尔摄影法得之不易。它是先辈们不懈探索和努力的结果。在路易·达盖尔八个世纪以前，一种与无透镜照相机类似的机器就被发明出来了，然后出现了透镜和银盐感光。其中最重要的发现来自于尼瑟佛尔·尼埃普斯，他在1820年发明了朱迪亚沥青感光并成功地制出世界上第一批照片。当1829年路易·达盖尔和尼瑟佛尔·尼埃普斯合作之后，他们继续探索怎么才能又快又清晰地制出照片。即使尼瑟佛尔·尼埃普斯在1833年突然死亡，路易·达盖尔仍旧没有放弃，他独自不停滴试验，随后发明了具有深远影响的达盖尔摄影法。
