　　Eminem

　　Recognized as the king of hip-hop by the media, Eminem is one of the rare white rappers in hip-hop music, a field dominated mainly by black singers. He is also one of the most controversial rappers in American music industry.

　　His musical works in his early career are characterized by criticism and curse for his life and for the world. This rooted from his miserable childhood. His father abandoned him when he was only 18 months old and he was solely brought up by his mother, with whom he had a terrible relationship with. In many of his songs, Eminem rapped about his mother in a very negative way. While rejected and despised by the mainstream musicians, his songs enjoyed great popularity among young people, especially among those who went through similar experiences as he did.

　　Though his songs were full of controversy, the unbelievably successful sales of his albums showed the society’s tolerance towards different art styles.

　　Just like his transformation from a rebellious and wasted young man to a caring and responsible father, the content of Eminem’s songs went through a great change, too. The themes of his current works are mostly about love, friendship, responsibility, courage and integrity. His songs inspired millions of fans and guided people to make right decisions in life.

　　Now Eminem is totally accepted by the mainstream and recognized as one of the greatest artists ever.

　　One great lesson Eminem teaches young people is to be yourself and be proud of who you are.
