　　《指环王》The lord of the rings

　　Griffin B. Literature has also had a profound impacton expressing ethical behavior, as demonstrated inJ.R.R Tolkien's fantasy novel The lord of the rings. In the novel, Frodo inherits a ring of great powerfrom his uncle Bilbo and must embark on a perilousquest to destroy it before it falls into the hands ofgreat evil forces headed bu the fearsome Sauron. In his quest to destroy the one ring to rule them all. Frodo realizes that the burden is one that he mustconquer on his own. Although aided by many a heroic friend, including the great wizardGandalf and Aragorn, the king of men, the psychological burden and lust for the ring thatFrodo develops is a lonely battle that he must face. After many years of fearsome battle and adeteriorating hope for success, Frodo overcomes the odds and destroys the ring. Fordo'ssignificant accomplishment saved middle earth from imminent death and suffering of thedark forces, thus emphasizing the effect ethical behavior in the name of good can have on thewhole of society.
