　　我们给SAT阅读中的排除法下个定义：同样，也是利用逆向思维，如果你发现某个选项和相应的文章内容没有关系，或者说文章的作者根本就没有提到这个选项所叙述的内容，排除之。

　　先来看个例题，这是2006年5月考题中的一道。

　　原文Caroline Yip and Marcella Ahn had a history. They had both lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in their twenties, and for several years they had been the best of friends --- inseparable, really。

　　According to the passage, the word "history" refers to

　　(A) chronological record of actual occurrences

　　(B) long-standing and noteworthy relationship

　　(D) branch of knowledge focused on the past

　　(E) creative work based on historical events (选自2006年5月SAT真题)

　　这个题问我们原文提到的"history"指的是什么?读一下原文相关的内容：Caroline Yip和Marcella Ahn是有一段历史的。她们20多岁的时候都住在麻省的Cambridge，多年以来他们都是最要好的朋友，说实在的，是分不开的好朋友。核心意思就是在叙述两个人之间的亲密。

　　然后我们排查选项，注意!和这两句话的意思无关的选项立刻排除。选项A，chronological record的意思是按年代的记录，显然和原文无关，排除;选项B，我们会立刻将目光集中到relationship这个词上，"关系" ，"朋友"该选项有点感觉;再看选项C，written account of an incident和"朋友"没有直接的关系，排除;选项D，branch of knowledge和"朋友"也没有什么关系吧，排除;选项E，historical events又是从何而来呢，不就是两个人嘛，和历史有什么关系呢?也排除。这样分析下来，选项B就是正确答案。

　　可能有人会觉得没什么特别的，我一眼就能看出选B，好朋友就是一种关系嘛!不用排除也能选出来。那我们再看个题。

　　原文 Nikhil registered for his four classes: Introduction to the History of Art, Medieval History, a semester of Spanish, Astronomy to fulfill his hard science requirement. At the last minute he registers for a drawing class in the evenings. He doesn't tell his parents about the drawing class, something they would consider frivolous at this stage of his life, in spite of the fact that his own grandfather was an artist。

　　The words above suggest which of the following about Nikhil?

　　(A) He enjoys provoking his parents。

　　(B) He has inherited his grandfather's talent。

　　(D) He feels compelled to take additional courses。

　　(E) He has allowed an impulse to guide him。(选自2009年10月真题)

　　这个题问的是原文传达了一个关于Nikhil什么样的信息。文中的意思是这样：Nikhil选了四门课。最后还选了一门画画课。这件事他没有和他爸妈说，因为他爸妈觉得画画对他来说是无关紧要的，尽管他的爷爷是个画家。这个题通过这些的信息恐怕很难一眼看出哪个是正确答案。
