　　1. Plug

　　讲解：to fill a hole with a substance or piece of material that fits tightly into it

　　例句：He plugged the hole in the pipe with an old rag.他用一块旧破布把管子上的那个洞塞住了。

　　大家肯定都听说过亡羊补牢的故事吧。这个故事可以用在“advice”的话题。请大家把这个故事再温习一下：

　　Once upon a time, there was a shepherd who kept several sheep.

　　从前有个人，养了几只羊。

　　One morning, the shepherd discovered that one of his sheep was missing.It turned out that, during the night, a wolf had stolen his sheep through a hole in the sheep pen.

　　一天早上，他发现少了一只羊。原来羊圈破了个窟窿，夜间狼从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。

　　His neighbor suggested to him: "You should fix the pen and cover the hole right away."

　　邻居劝告他说：“赶快把羊圈修一修，堵上那个窟窿吧。”

　　But the shepherd said: "The sheep is already lost, so I don't need to repair it." And so he rejected the neighbor's suggestion.

　　他说：“羊已经丢了，还修羊圈干什么呢?”他没接受邻居的劝告。

　　The next morning, he discovered that another sheep was missing.Once again, the wolf stole the sheep through the hole in the fence.

　　第二天早上，他去放羊，发现又少了一只羊。原来狼又从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。

　　The shepherd regretted not taking the neighbor's advice.So he plugged the hole to secure the sheep pen.

　　他很后悔没有接受邻居的劝告，他赶快堵上那个窟窿，把羊圈修得结结实实的。

　　From then on, no more sheep was stolen by the wolf.

　　从此，他的羊再没有被狼叼走了

　　2. Pen

　　讲解：pen在个故事里是“圈”的意思。

　　可以说 a pen of sheep一栏羊

　　a pen of one cock and four hens一公四母一窝鸡

　　3. So/as long as

　　讲解：so long as 和as long as 都是“只要”的意思。

　　As long as you are clear with what you want, take persistent action and you will eventually reach there.只要你清楚自己想要什么并坚持去做，你一定会实现自己的梦想!

　　You may use the book as you like, so long as you keep it clean.你尽管用这本书，只要不把它弄脏就行。

　　4. Produce

　　讲解：produce这个词看似简单，但是你用正确使用吗?我们经常会说“培养”人才就可以用produce这个词哦。另外，produce也是“引起，导致”的意思。请看例句：

　　If you say that you want to be rich, but you are not doing anything about it, you will never accomplish it. Action produces results. Without taking action, you will never get to where you want.如果你说你想变得富有，但是你又不为之付出，那你永远也不会富有。行动才能产生结果。不付诸行动，你永远不会达到你想要的高度。

　　He is the greatest athlete this country has ever produced.他是这个国家培养的最了不起的运动员。

　　5. Penchant

　　讲解：a special liking for sth爱好。

　　Despite his physical limitations, Luka has an incredibly active imagination and a penchant for drawing.尽管他身体受限，但是卢卡有惊人的想象力，并且尤其喜欢画画。

　　今天要给大家介绍一位12岁的小男孩，Luca。Luca身患肌肉萎缩症。(He suffers from muscular dystrophy.)正常人觉得很平常的诸如“投篮”(shoot hoops)，“踩滑板”( ride a skateboard)卢卡都是做不到的。但是，在一次偶尔的交流中，卢卡渴望“像正常孩子一样嬉戏”的愿望被一位名叫马泰的斯洛文尼亚摄影师得知，于是他为卢卡拍摄了这组名为“小王子”的治愈系图片。
