　　2024年9月8日的托福考试已经成为回忆，新东方在线SAT考试网为大家整理了此次考试的托福口语机经，让我们一起来回顾和分析这次的口语考查内容。

　　TASK 1

　　Some adults believe that young people have become excessively dependent on or even addicted to electronic devices and should try to use them less. Do you agree with this point of view? Explain why or why not.

　　Sample Answer

　　Well, I definitely agree with the statement.

　　Firstly, social media can be quite addictive to young people because most of them lack self-control. So if they have too much screen time everyday, their eyesight may get even worse. And because they remain sitting still for a long time, they may suffer from a series of chronic issues, like neck and back problems, nearsightedness and even obesity.

　　Besides, when young people get addicted to social media, their study efficiency would be reduced. That’s because they’ll have this constant compulsion to check their phones for likes and comments. So there’s no way they can stay focused when they’re studying or doing other important activities.

　　阅读

　　Reading(Student Letter): Finishing Math Courses Early(大学要求新生上基础数学课，但课上讲的东西对于一些学生而言已经会了。所以建议让学生可以早一点考试结束学业)

　　Point 1: 因为如果学生有能力早点pass the tests，啥时候考试其实不重要。

　　Point 2: 不上基础课的学生可以有时间上其他课。比如可以让学生take required courses in other subjects that they find more difficult.

　　Reason 1: 因为现在评分的方式就是完成一些作业，而这些作业又都是practice for the tests. 不需要完成research paper 也不用完成一些graded work，所以认同关于letter里面提到的建议：提前参加考试，就不要花时间继续上这个introductory math course了。

　　Reason 2: 有了extra time肯定是好的，因为他就觉得这个学期的课太多了， feel overwhelmed;比如literature class，他不仅要读书，还要读reviews，还要do all the writings，所以这个事情能让他有更多时间。

　　Illusion of Explanatory Depth(解释深度错觉)

　　定义：人们可能天生倾向于高估自己对生活中复杂机制的理解。(A phenomenon where people may have a natural tendency to overestimate their understanding of the complex mechanisms in life.)

　　听力

　　Lecture: Psychology(心理学)

　　例子：班级实验

　　班里的学生大都知道怎么骑自行车，然后教授问学生们是否他们都清楚自行车的原理和各部件的功能。大部分学生会quickly said yes。

　　然后教授给他们看了两张图，showing the wheels, the frame, the foot pedals and the chain. 其中一张图片是对的。另一张图片里的链条(chain)位置是错的。Surprisingly，很多学生选了那张错误的图片。但其实如果按图片里面链条那样链接车轮的话，自行车是不可能走得动的。但似乎学生都意识不到这个问题。所以，结论就是，哪怕学生们经常骑自行车，也不是很清楚 how parts of the bike fit together. 更不清楚 how the parts worked together to make the wheels turn and move the bike.

　　TASK 4

　　Lecture题材：Biology (生物学)

　　主题: 2 ways amphibians may find sites to lay their eggs(两种两栖动物寻找产卵地点的方法)

　　Way 1：通过building nesting sites 或者在sheltered areas 里面产卵，来keep the eggs safe.

　　例子： Goliath frog 巨蛙

　　这种体型较大的frog会在river bank上挖一个洞，然后把卵产在这个洞里。卵其实还是在水里，but are protected from the river’s predatory fish and the strong river current

　　Way 2：通过把卵产在places with optimal temperature conditions for the eggs to grow and develop，提高孵化成功率

　　例子：Spotted Salamander (蝾螈)

　　因为这种salamander的卵需要plenty of oxygen to develop, 所以ta会把大部分卵产在cold water里面，因为水里可以有更多氧气，也就更容易让卵成功孵化。
