　　Doctor Achebe:Many educators believe that participating in clubs or organizations can enhance students' overall experience and personal development. Some universities even consider making it a requirement for students to join at least one club or organization during their studies. Now, think about the benefits and potential drawbacks of such a requirement. Do you think universities should encourage or even require students to participate in at least one club or organization? Why or why not?

　　Kelly: I think universities should encourage students to join clubs or organizations. It's a great way to make new friends and build strong relationships. For example, when I joined the debate club, I not only improved my speaking skills but also met some of my closest friends. These connections have been invaluable for both my personal and academic growth.

　　Paul: While these activities can be beneficial, they can also take up a lot of time. Many students are already struggling to balance their academic workload, part-time jobs, and personal commitments. Adding mandatory extracurricular activities might just increase stress and reduce the time they have for studying and resting.

　　From my perspective, encouraging students to participate in at least one club or organization is generally a positive idea. This is because being involved in a club or organization can help students develop important social and interpersonal skills. By working with others toward a common goal, students can improve their communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities, which are all valuable skills that can benefit them in their future careers. Take my friend John as an example. When he first entered the university, he was so introverted that he could not make any friends as a freshman. His tutor then encouraged him to take part in some students’ associations to meet new people sharing similar values with him. He participated in a guitar club due to his early exposure to this musical instrument when he was ten. During the process of learning and rehearsal, he got familiar with other club members quickly and became friends with each other within three months. Gradually, he became outgoing and was more likely to interact with others, which has become a great advantage for him when he looked for jobs after graduation. Being admitted to a famous company, he fitted well in the group and got promotion after he completed a significant project. Never has he thought about his future could be successful like this and he regarded the guitar club in his university as a turning point for him. Therefore, universities should encourage students to participate in at least one club or organization.
