　　Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The first impressions and opinions one forms of a person upon meeting him or her for the first time are usually accurate and reliable.【本题重复2020年12月家考原题】

　　Sample Answer

　　Well I think the first impressions we have about a person are usually wrong.

　　The primary reason is that many people feel nervous and self-conscious when they meet someone for the first time, so they're unlikely to display their real individual personality. Take myself as an example, I'm actually a very extroverted person, but a lot of my friends told me that the first time they met me they all thought that I was this really introverted girl. I guess this has something to do with me feeling really nervous around strangers.

　　In addition, first impressions of others are usually based on their appearances. But appearances can be quite deceiving and has nothing to do with a person's qualities and personality traits. In that case, first impressions and opinions are definitely not accurate and reliable.

　　Do you prefer to be friends with the people who share the same opinion as you do or the people who hold different opinions?【本题重复2023.10.10原题】

　　Sample Answer

　　I prefer to be friends with people who have similar opinions and beliefs.

　　The first reason is that this way can reduce potential conflicts so that the relationship between us would become stronger. What I mean is, if we usually come up with different ideas toward things like which restaurant to go, or what type of movies to choose, we will fall into argument really often.

　　What’s more, hearing opinions from the opposite side could be fun, but it is also time-consuming to some extent. For example, if me and my friend have different opinions toward political issues or current news, we might end up arguing with each other, or sitting down hearing the other’s thoughts. I feel like we could definitely save those time to do things like studying or read a good book.

　　Required Practice Interviews

　　Next year, the university’s career-services center will begin to offer practice job interviews for students, in which students will practice answering the typical questions asked by employers during job interviews. The goal is to help students improve their chances of getting a job. These practice interviews will be conducted by student volunteers, who will act as potential employers asking questions during a real job interview. The practice-interview session will be required for all students in their final semester, when most students start looking for jobs.
