In your post, l would like you to discuss whether schools should make it a priority to prepare students for a global society. Please explain your opinion.

　　Kelly:To not forget my true identity,students should prioritize learning the values cherished in their local culture. Attempting to cultivate global citizens may result in students losing their own identities. Only after schools have provided students with a solid foundation in the history of their local culture can they then focus on studying the histories of other countries.

　　Paul:Technology has made it easier than ever for people to connect with the world. Therefore, we anticipate that more individuals will work in countries other than their own and benefit from acquiring global skills that will help them succeed anywhere.

　　Doctor Achebe:Many people would agree that teachers have a great responsibility. Today's question revolves around the role teachers are expected to play when teaching children. Some claim that a teacher's sole job should be to teach the school curriculum. Others argue that a teacher's responsibility also includes teaching manners that can help students function outside the classroom, such as being polite and respectful of others. Which view do you agree with and why?

　　Kelly:I think schools are already overloaded with a lot to do, so l would argue that teachers should always focus on teaching the curriculum since that is really what the role of schools is. I don't think its the teacher's job to teach manners or behaviors to students because they will pick those up elsewhere.

　　Paul:I agree with the view that a teacher's role extends beyond teaching the school curriculum. l think it is OK for teachers to help children pick up basic manners and behaviors, at least those expected from them in the class: otherwise, how would you expect children to interact appropriately with other children in the class?

　　I strongly agree that teachers should teach manners alongside the curriculum. First, school is where children spend most of their waking hours, so it's the ideal place to learn social skills like respect and politeness. For example, when l was in fifth grade, my teacher started each Monday with a "kindness minute," where we practiced saying "please, ”thank you," or giving genuine compliments. At first, it felt silly, but over time, our class became noticeably more cooperative. Bullying decreased, and group projects ran smoother because we'd learned to listen and respect each other. I understand Paul's view that teachers should focus only on academics, but without basic manners, even the smartest student will struggle in the real world. Last year, our debate team captain, a typical straight-A student, lost a big science fair because he rolled his eves at the judges. in other words, good manners aren't extra; they're essential for teamwork, interviews.
