  Doctor Achebe:Today, we're looking at the challenges working parents face in balancing their professional responsibilities with childcare. As more families rely on dual incomes, parents often struggle to find enough time and energy to care for their children effectively. This issue raises questions about work-life balance, flexible job options, and support systems. What do you think is the best way for working parents to ensure they can care for their children effectively? Why?

  Kelly:I think flexible work hours are the best solution. My cousin, for example, shifted to a remote job so he could help his daughter with schoolwork during the day. Having control over his schedule allowed him to be present without sacrificing his job performance.

  Paul:I believe the key is strong support systems, like grandparents or trusted day care centers. My mom was a nurse with long shifts, and we relied on my aunt to help. Without that network, it would've been impossible for her to manage both work and parenting.

  范文:

  The most effective strategy for working parents to ensure effective childcare is not a single solution but a dual approach: securing flexible work arrangements and investing in high-quality, reliable childcare support. This combination directly addresses the core challenges of time poverty and emotional availability, which are paramount for a child's development. Firstly, the adoption of flexible work models, such as remote work or compressed workweeks, is transformative. These arrangements eliminate draining commutes, granting parents precious additional hours that can be reallocated to family time. For instance, a parent working from home can use their lunch break to share a meal with their child or attend a school event virtually, fostering a stronger emotional connection. This flexibility also allows parents to be physically present for key moments, reducing the guilt and stress associated with rigid office schedules. A study by the Harvard Business Review found that employees with flexible work options reported 30% higher job satisfaction and felt more capable of managing parental duties, which in turn increases their focus and productivity during work hours. Secondly, beyond parental flexibility, professional childcare is indispensable. This includes not only formal daycare but also enlisting the help of family members or trusted caregivers. Quality childcare provides children with structured socialization, cognitive stimulation, and a safe environment, which are crucial for their development. This support system allows parents to dedicate themselves fully to their professional responsibilities without distraction, knowing their child is in capable hands. For example, a parent might work from home while a nanny supervises the children, enabling deep focus on complex tasks. This division of labor ensures that the time parents do spend with their children is fully engaged and high-quality, rather than exhausted and fractured. Critics may argue that such arrangements are a luxury not available to all. While financial and logistical barriers are real, the growing cultural shift toward workplace flexibility and the availability of subsidized programs in many communities are making this dual approach increasingly accessible. The goal is for parents and employers to proactively seek these solutions. In conclusion, the synergy between flexible work and reliable external support creates a sustainable ecosystem. It allows parents to thrive in their careers without compromising the nurturing, attentive care that is the foundation of their children's well-being.

 主题:野牛数量下降的原因

  当地居民因缺乏食物,将数量多且体型大的野牛作为食物来源;

  野牛在东部数量减少时,人类活动区域在西部,二者无关联;

  人类带入野牛栖息地的其他食草动物吃光了草,使野牛失去食物;

  野牛生活在极寒地区,其他动物难以接近,不会出现草被吃光的情况;

  人类科技发展出连发枪,让野牛更易被猎杀,数量锐减。

  几百年前原住民使用的传统弓箭发射间隔短,猎杀野牛的效率与连发枪相近,因此连发枪并非野牛数量剧降的原因。

  Doctor Achebe:This week we are discussing labor shortages. That's when there are more jobs in the economy than there are qualified people to fill those jobs. During a labor shortage, companies have to compete with one another to attract people to work for them. In your online discussion, please explain what you think companies can do to make themselves more attractive to potential employees.

  Kelly:I think one thing that makes a company attractive is location. When companies choose a location for a facility, they should think about whether it's a place that employees want to be. For example, locating a workplace in a big city where there are lots of shops and entertainment options could be a good way to attract new employees.

  Paul:It might sound unimportant at first, but l have heard of companies that provide their employees with a variety of food options in their facility. These companies don't just have a cafeteria; they also provide coffee bars and free snack stations for their employees to make working there more enjoyable. l think this also makes employees feel appreciated.

 主题:whether Richard Ill did have his nephews killed

  First, Richard had a strong motive to kill his nephews. The nephews were the sons of the previous king. Edward IV, who had died. They, not Richard, were next in line to become king. Richard's desire to be king was well known; but he could become king only if the nephews were removed. Just that happened. Shortly after Richard was appointed as the boys guardian, they disappeared, never to be seen again. With his access to the children, Richard could have easily arranged to have them murdered and so achieve his ambition to become king.

  First. That's because Richard's nephew stood in his way, doesn't mean that Richard had to kill them to become king himself. Richard used a different strategy to remove them as his competitors. He persuaded a law court to declare that the boy's parents had never been legally married. When their parents' marriage was no longer recognized by the law, the children became illegitimate. Which meant that they lost their right to become kings. Since they were no longer obstacles to Richard's becoming king himself. He had no reason to harm them.

  Second, it was not only Shakespeare who took the view that Richard was guilty. Most writers at the time maintained that Richard III plotted his nephews' disappearance. Foremost among these writers was the famous historian Sir Thomas More. In his History of King Richard the Third, More stated that it was "certain" that Richard had ordered the deaths of his nephews.

  Second, we have to be skeptical of the claims of the writers who accused Richard, the third of murder. Most of them were not independent observers, but were associated with Richard's enemies, the tutor family. The tutors rebelled against Richard and removed him from the throne so they could become England's royal family. They wanted to accuse Richard of a murder because it justified their own takeover of the kingdom. Now, Thomas Moore and Williams Shakespeare. Two authors who wrote that Richard was guilty of the murders were both supported by the tutors. So the historical accuracy of what they wrote about Richard should not be taken for granted.

  Third, there is even physical evidence supporting the view that the boys were killed while in Richard's care. In the 1600s two skeletons were found at the Tower of London-the place where Richard had the nephews housed. These skeletons belonged to children approximately the same age as Richard's nephews when they disappeared.

  Third. The skeletons found in the tower of London. Actually, the likelihood that the skeletons belong to Richard's nephews is quite small. It's impossible to establish the age of the children accurately from the skeletons, and it's even impossible to tell whether they were boys or girls. Families with children had lived in the tower of London for hundreds of years before the sixteen hundreds. Many of those children had died there, and the skeletons in question could belong to any of them.

  Your professor is teaching a class on marketing. Write a post responding to the professor’s question.

  An effective response will contain at least 100 words. You have ten minutes to write.

  Doctor Achebe:In our discussion this week, we are going to discuss the subject of course selection during high school. As we all know, education plays a crucial role in shaping our future. Choosing the right courses can be challenging given the variety of options, but there are certainly key courses that could be more beneficial. As students in the secondary school stage, or in high school, which course do you think is the most important and should be made compulsory? And why do you think so?

  Kelly:In my opinion, math should be a compulsory course in high school. Nowadays, people are too reliant on using apps and machines, technological advancements have weakened their math skills in daily life so math should be a compulsory subject. lt is beneficial for students' future financial planning and other arrangements.

  Paul:I would argue that biology should be made compulsory. Biology is very commonly used. Without knowledge of biology, students might not even know how to use medications. Studying biology helps us with everyday things, like understanding basic health care and making good choices about our environment.
