　　For example, consider Alan, one of my high school classmates who spent the majority of a school year juggling multiple advanced placement classes, extracurricular activities, and part-time work. When a long summer break arrived, he did not grab the opportunity to engage in leisure activities that promote mental health—such as spending time with friends, pursuing hobbies, or simply relaxing. Instead, he was required to complete homework, which not only made him felt pressured to complete assignments, but also led to a cycle of stress that can have long-term consequences on his mental health. Thus, the restorative benefits of the time off was negated by schoolwork assigned by teachers.
